Life can bring unexpected challenges to families. Couples separate, a child has a disability or medical condition, or parents and child are in conflict without knowing how they got there. Such challenges can put a lot of stress on families, contributing to physical and mental health issues for parents and children, social isolation, family break-up, and economic distress. It can be hard for friends and relatives to understand these challenges and identify how to cope with and/or change in response to them.
My style in working with clients is positive, straightforward, and supportive. I believe wholeheartedly in the possibility of change, and that the deepest, most powerful change starts on the inside.
I attended Pacific Lutheran University and obtained my undergraduate degree in Communications. I earned my Master's in Psychology from Antioch University in 1994 and am a licensed mental health counselor. I have 17 years of experience working with children (preschool to teens) and their parents.
Therapy makes sense to me by checking out behaviors, thoughts, and hopes. Theoretically, I craft my skills from Family Systems, Developmental Psychology, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, common sense, and years of parenting my own three children.
I provide individual therapy for both children and adults and family psychotherapy. It's what I love to do along with cooking and hiking.
I accept Premera, Regence, and First Choice insurance plans and will bill them directly. All other insurances may reimburse for my services. I will provide the necessary paperwork for reimbursements.
